Throughout the semester, students gather in the Static Attic to watch national touring acts, as well as up-and-coming artists, showcase their talent. The ASUOP Unplugged Series provides an intimate setting for these artists, set in the coffeehouse atmosphere of the Static Attic. Some artists to have graced our stage are Megan Slankard, Brad Wolfe, Liam McCormick, as well as bands such as UVR and Sweet James. Additionally, in 2003, the Pacific Artist Showcase was created, giving Pacific students a chance to perform for their peers in a comfortable, yet professional setting. The Showcase features the amazing talent that is walking amongst themselves on their own campus. All performers are selected by demo submission, and may be sent to the A&E Board at the ASUOP office. All performances are held at 8:00 PM in The Summit, located on the 2nd level of the McCaffrey Center. All events are free and open to the public. |
Jazz at the Summit is a unique collaboration between the Associated Students and the Brubeck Institute, which brings the vibrant talent of the Brubeck Fellows to a small intimate setting for a series of performances each year. Now in its 3rd year, this series allows the community to witness first hand the development and extraordinary talent of this young group of musicians. These young artists are part of a small and exclusive group who possess a love for jazz and an understanding of and dedication to the art form that belies their years. They are the future of the music, and through programs such as Jazz at the Summit they will pass on their deep appreciation to other young people, helping to develop and ensure a future for the music. Throughout the series, the Brubeck Fellows have been joined by special guests such as Conrad Herwig and Christian McBride for impromptu jam sessions. All performances are held at 8:00 PM in The Summit, located on the 2nd level of the McCaffrey Center. All events are free and open to the public. |
